I {heart} Justin Bieber

No not me :)  My girlfriend's daughter is totally infatuated with him.

I promised I would make her a little something to thank her for making my daughter a wooden sign that was decorated up with "One Direction".  Another boy band in case you hadn't heard of them.  Something for her in return.  Girls these days :)

Every girl should have a journal no matter what age.  I still use one - just not faithfully like I used to. It's good for them to put their thoughts down on paper sometimes to sort life out.  I found one of mine from when I was 10 and had just lost my mom.  I sat down and read through the whole thing.  Sure brought back a whole lot of feelings.  And kinda cool that I still had it to help me remember all that I went through.

So this is what I did for her.  She loves purple so I found a very pretty turquoise with purple.  Love the tropical look to it.  I found a Justin Bieber applique design too!

The elastic was definitely a good idea to keep it closed when not used.

I love this print - I am going to get some more in different colors.

I attached a ribbon to mark her place when she needs to.

And of course, the embroidery close-up.

I really like how it turned out and I know she will.  I will add a pocket next time to the inside I think.  A place to hold some notes or photos.

And I may as well show you what I made her mom.  It is from the fabric collection: Free Spirit - Tula Pink - Saltwater (corals).  Love these beachy prints.  I let her choose which two she wanted and then I surprised her.

I didn't have the proper gray to use so I went with coral color embroidery thread.  Blends a little too well I think, but I still love it.

Just completed another order - His 'n Her towels with Blowing Kisses penguins.  They will be going to Lorrie in AZ tomorrow I hope. Will share those with you soon :)

Until then, pop over to my Facebook page and you can look at all my projects there.  Be sure to LIKE my page if you stop by too.  Now to finish off a birthday gift, get started on my "baby boy basket" and I'm dying to sew up one of my embroidered totes.  It has been a while and I've got some stitched out ready to go together.

And remember...............

Giraffes & Star Wars

I can't believe how much time has passed since my last post.  Work is getting busy again and I've been filling orders. Since I posted the I-pad cover I made for my girlfriend, I have received 4 orders - three complete and one more to go.

I want to share with you two today that a friend of mine ordered for her daughter and son-in-law for Valentine's.  Her daughter's had to be "giraffe" type.  That was an easy fill since I had the perfect fabric and embroidery design  to use.  I love how it turned out.

This is the back (if you can see the tab that slips in the loop).  Here is the inside view and of course, she wanted her daughter's nickname inside as well.

This is the low-stand position.  Sorry I don't have an I-pad for display :(  And here is the embroidery - butterfly with giraffe print wings.  I love this one.  I also have a zebra and leopard print.  These look stunning on towels!!

And now on to Star Wars - this was a little more difficult to complete.  I didn't have any Star Wars fabric and had to go online searching.  The closest was Toronto and she was sold out of the print we wanted and then I found it in Oregon. I had 7days to get the fabric and complete it for the special day so we paid a lot of money for shipping to guarantee the pkg to be here in 3-5 days.  Well as it turned out, it was late and didn't arrive until the Friday after Valentine's.  The seller got it out that night, but for some reason after research and talking to USPS and CP, it took 6 days just to get to the Canadian border!!  Long story short, I am messaging the seller because she is the only one that can request a refund. Then she can give me the refund.  We will cross our fingers.  So on to the cover:

- the back while standing

- both standing positions

Needless to say, they were very happy and said they that it was totally worth the 2 days late.  That made me very happy.

Thanks for coming by to visit and before I go, you can check out my FB page - link on the right - to see my sponsor of one of these I-pads for giveaway.  If you aren't on FB, go here and check it out and all the other giveaways.  Just scroll down and you will see my giveaway.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Kiss Goodnight

I have been wanting to do one of these pillows for a while now.  I found a perfect saying for the pillow and decided to give it a try.  This fabric was a piece from that I had in my "large" stash :)  I love the color combo of this fabric.  It is sort of a thick satin. This is the front:

And here is the back - similiar texture to dupioni silk.

I love this color, very rich.

I had to do a closeup of the saying.  That was the only part I wasn't too happy about. Didn't think it would look so small.  Will definitely re-size next time.
These make awesome Valentine, anniversary, birthday or wedding gifts.  Also just to say I love you, thinking about you, whatever.

Let me know what you think?  Too small or ok?  Need to definitely try some more sayings/quotes on pillows I think :)

Off to create.................but isn't this cute  LOL

Colorwash Butterflies

Hey there
So I am here to show you another Ipad cover I made for a friend.  I got this fabric from Hypernoodle Fabrics a while ago.  I absolutely love it with all the colors and how it all flows. You can combine it with so many different colors.
This is the front view which I obviously couldn't embroider on since it is busy enough.

The Colorwash Butterfly is a favorite of mine from Kreations by Kara. She has got some of the most gorgeous, creative designs.  And very unique which I love.  I found this design easy to use for this project because of the colors of the main fabric and embroidering on black makes it pop.  And a little personalization which to me, makes this whole project special.

This is the different positions you can utilize the stand and the back view.

They are sturdy yet padded to protect your Ipad.  I hope she likes it!!

Enjoy your day!!

Ipad cover for Valentine's

Hello everyone - I'm glad you came back to see me.  And as promised I am here - 2 days in a row  :)

My son gave me a custom order for an Ipad cover for him to give to his girlfriend for Valentine's.  I went searching and found my pattern and he chose the fabrics to use - after quizzing her a little of course.  And we both knew she loves horses, just like me.  So anyway, here is what we came up with.
You can see her initial and the horse outline running through it.

The back view and closure.

And two different ways to use the stand.  He really liked it and can't wait to give it to her for Valentine's.  So cute....

Tomorrow I have one other to show you that I did.  Just rolling with them now that I've done one.  And now I have 2 custom orders to fill after my girlfriend saw these ones.  I may even do some for Etsy or Facebook - not sure yet.

Off to do some more........... and remember

Finally Settling In

Happy Sunday everyone!
I have been avoiding posting on here for a while but one of my goals for this year is to post way more than I have been.
A lot of changes with our big move to the Kootenay's and we are all settling in.  Working full time now for our business is great although it takes away a lot of my creating/posting/me time.  I am still trying to get a routine in place for all this.  And I have a much smaller area/room right now for sewing/crafting, but plan on that changing in the very near future as well.  I have lots of plans for growth this year......................now to make it all happen.
So today I wanted to share with you a jacket I made a few months back and I dont' think I ever showed you.  Its an Aviator Jacket.

If you click on the photos, you will get a bigger view.  This is made with leather bonded with sherpa.  Its size is a 24 months. It is loose fitting too.

I embroidered aviation wings on the sleeve.

Added a patch to the front chest.  Here is the inside sherpa - very cozy

And a matching hat to complete the set.

I have done several of these a few years ago and they were very popular.
This one will be loaded to my Etsy store - another one of my To-Do-better items.  I intend to load Etsy and keep it loaded again.  Been slacking there big time!
I have a few custom orders to take care of :)  A couple of Ipad covers which I will share with you tomorrow.  Another is a new Baby Boy gift basket filled with all handmade items from me.  A girlfriend of mine that I haven't seen or talked to in about 25-30 years, found me and my Facebook page a few months back. And now she has given me a custom order!!  I am stoked - I am making everything of course, personalized and she is letting me decide what is going in it.  Love it!!
Well I better get busy digging out some of my designs and patterns. She doesnt' need it til May but I want to have plenty of time to plan and get it done, and to her by the end of April.  I will be sure to show you along the way what I fill it with.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!  Getting my nails done tonite at Sublime Nails - she is the best here in Castlegar :)  I just might take a picture to show you..............See you tomorrow and remember
